June 5 - 7, 2009 Don Hubbard Field Music School

Registration for the Don Hubbard Field Music School

This event will replicate two days in the life of a Field Musician in training at the Civil War era Field Music School held at Governors Island, New York. We will be "camped" (in barracks) in a real restored Civil War Fort, Fort Delaware, which was a major seacoast defense as well as a large Confederate POW camp. This will be a very intense weekend of training in the instrument of your choice (Fife, Drum, Bugle) with nationally renown top caliber Music instructors.

While our goal is to have a fee that is low enough been so as to be very affordable for the young Field Musicians, we are including quite a lot more than is included in normal reenactments or other similar events. The School fee includes:
1. Many hours of unrivaled professional music instruction and practice from the very best instructors in the Field Music World.
2. Training in Civil War "drill" (Customs of Service, the Camp Duty, School of the Soldier, School of the Company, Dress Parade, Guard Mount, Battle Formations, Skirmish Drills, etc.)
3. Six all-you-can-eat-meals (Friday dinner through Sunday lunch)
4. Lodging, bunk or cot, in an actual Civil War Fort.
5. Round trip boat transportation from Delaware City to the Fort.
6. Experienced adult supervision of youth participants.
7. The experience of your life!
